Not sure who carved this old wooden decoy but it wasdone very nicelywith a Ward style paint. I think it is a mallard hen because there is some burnt orange color on the bill but not sure....might be a blackduck. a

Bird has very nice carving on head, bill and tail. Paint appears to be all original showing some wear on bill, side of head, and tail with a beautiful feather pattern on back and sides. Bird hasglass eyes and measures approx 17 1/2\" from tip of bill to tipof tail, 6\" at widest point and 7 3/4\" high at head.

Bottom has4 nail holes where there was a weight. There is a smallpiece of metal inthe lower part of breast which is probably the remains of metal ring to hold line.
