Up for sale is a very pleasing to the eye and hand, early vintage compact, coin purse with mirror. Total length of item with chain is 8 inches. Body of the compact itself is 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 in. and weighs 103 grams. There is a very nice engraving to the front showing some slight wear from use. There are some minor indentations to the front and back but are so minor it is very difficult to tell from the pictures, they are slightly more pronounced on the back than to the front. The clasp works fine and it opens and closes easily. There is a small purple glass cabochon used on the clasp.

As you can see from the photos, there is some minor corrosion to the mirror lid and the mirror itself has some spotting. This compact was marketed by the VE Black company of Rhode Island and their mark is crisp on the interior. It is also clearly marked \"12Kt. FRONT on the inside of the front cover. I have no idea as to the exactmeaning of this and to what extent this item has 12 Kt gold. Is it solid, plated, gold fill, etc. All I can provide is the pictures and what is stamped on the item. No guarantee is made as to it\'s gold content, if any.Regardless, it is a very pleasant item and very collectible.
