This Ruth Gibbs, Godey's Little Lady Dolls; Louisa May Alcott- Little Women story- March Family all originalsetofdolls are in near MINTcondition.These dolls are all marked RG on the back shoulder plate.
Mrs. March (no. 230) is an early creation of Ruth Gibbs with no wires an will sit. She has a white china bodice, arms and legs with a cloth body sewn at the waist and she stands 12 1/2" tall. Her facial features; dark blue eyes surrounded with long black lashes, rosy cheeks and red lips are beautifully painted. She has dark brown painted hair topped with an off-white organdy bonnet to match her apron that has alittledarkened with age. She has her original tag (Godey's March Family MRS. MARCH NO 230 Ruth Gibbs. Inc. Flemington N.J.) inside the hem of her light brown, white and dark brown taffeta plaid dress detailed in off- white lace trim and fuzzy flowers tied with matching organdy bows in the front. Her apron is a off-white organdy apron with lace trimmings that has littledarkened with age. Her undergarment is long off-white bloomers with satin ribbon ties at the ankles, a long organdy fancyflower print slip trimmed with lace that has littledarkened with age. She has a necklace and bracelet painted in 24 K gold. She wearsheel style shoes painted brown with bows. She is in excellent condition.
Jo (no. 272) is a pale pinkchina head, arms and legs with a cloth body doll that stands 7" tall with a handmade tag(Godey's March Family JO NO 272 Ruth Gibbs. Inc. Flemington N.J.) in the hem of her dress. Her facial features; blue eyes with black dotted pupils that are surrounded with long black lashes, little red dotted nose, rosy cheeks and red lips are beautifully painted. She has dark brown painted hair and a white wool felt bonnet tied with red satin ribbon. Her outfit is a red and white plaid cotton dress with white lace and red rick rack edging at the hem held together in the back with a little safety pin, white net slip with organdy ruffle at the hem, her undergarment islongwhite net bloomers. She has a little paper book that tells of the adventures of the March sisters tied with red satin ribbon at her waist. Herheel style shoes are painted in 24 K gold. She has no rubs and is in mint condition.

Her facial features; blue eyes with black dotted pupils that are surrounded with long black lashes, little red dotted nose, rosy cheeks and red lips are beautifully painted. She has dark brown painted hair and a blue wool felt bonnet tied with purple satin ribbon. Her outfit is a blue and white plaid cotton dress with white lace and blue rick rack edging at the hem held together in the back with a little safety pin, a white organdy apron trimmed to match her dress, white net slip, her undergarment is long white net bloomers. She has a little paper sheet music roll at her waist tied with purple satin ribbon. Her heel style shoes are painted in 24 K gold that have a little rub on the toes and is in excellent condition.
Meg (no. 173) is a pale pinkchina head, arms and legs with a cloth body doll that stands 7" tall with a handmade tag(Godey's March Family MEG NO 173 Ruth Gibbs. Inc. Flemington N.J.) in the hem of her dress. Her facial features; blue eyes with black dotted pupils that are surrounded with long black lashes, little red dotted nose, rosy cheeks and red lips are beautifully painted. She has dark brown painted hair and a dark green wool felt bonnet tied with off-white satin ribbon. Her outfit is a light brown and white plaid cotton dress with an off-white organdy bib trimmed in white rick rack held together in the back with a little safety pin, white net slip with organdy ruffle at the hem, her undergarment is long white net bloomers. She has a little bouquet of pink paper flowers at her waist. Herheel styleshoes are painted in 24 K gold that have a little rub on the toes and is in excellent condition.
Amy (no. 175) is a pale pinkchina head, arms and legs with a cloth body doll that stands 7" tall with a handmade tag(Godey's March Family AMY NO. 175 Ruth Gibbs. Inc. Flemington N.J.) in the hem of her dress. Her facial features; light blue eyes with black dotted pupils that are surrounded with long black lashes, little red dotted nose, rosy cheeks and red lips are beautifully painted. She has light blonde painted hair and a red wool felt bonnet tied with white satin ribbon. Her outfit is a light cream color organdy dress with white rick rack trim at the hem held together in the back with a little safety pin, a red floral apron tied at the waist with a white satin ribbon, white net slip with ared floral print edging at the hem to match the apron, her undergarment is long whitenet bloomers. She has a little burgundy pencil with a silver end cap tied to her arm. Her heel style shoes are painted in 24 K gold have no rubs. She is in excellent condition.These dolls have never had their clothes removed, their china is pristine ,also their cloth bodies. They are beautiful dolls, a complete set with all accessories. The box they are on is just to keep them nice ,it is not a Ruth Gibbs originalbox.
Included with this wonderful collection of dolls, made to represent each of the characters in the Little Women series, is a history of Ruth Gibbs, Godey's Little Lady dolls, and an article of Louisa May Alcott; author of Little Women published in 1868.
