Material Glass
This necklace has beautifully designed foiled glass beads that have peacock influenced colors and a barrel shape to the beads. There are quite a few beads - 9 - that have Very significant chips - both to the foiling and to the core bead itself which effects the shape of the bead. You can see the chips in some of the close-up photos. Having said that, the wear is specific to those areas, meaning there isn't a lot of small nicks and chips that effect the overall color of the piece. I thought of taking the beads out that are damaged to re-string the piece but in my opinion it would be a shame to lose the pretty graduating design and length of the necklace and the chips aren't as noticeable when the piece is worn. This necklace was longer originally and was re-strung at some point (probably for the same reason of chipped beads) and the beads aren't perfectly symmetrical on either side but it is not noticeable except on close inspection. The strand seems firm and wearable without any loosening or gaps in the strand. Overall this is a striking and richly colored, barrel bead peacock glass necklace, that is from the 1920's.
