This antique United States Army backpack and dufflebag belonged to Jesse Widmann,a professional baseball player from El Paso, Texas. Jesse Widmann was a volunteer that served in the Spanish American War and saw two years service in the Philippines. Widmann also served in France in World War One. At the beginning of World War One Jesse Widmann was a Lieutenant in Troop B Cavalry. This antique army backpack has \"U.S.1\" on the front flap and \"1 17\" on the back\". Also printed on the inside flap is \"ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL\". Closed the canvas pack measures approx. 13 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches. The large canvas duffle-bag is marked \"U.S.\" on the front. The duffle-bag has five straps with metal buckles. The duffle-bag measures approx. 14 inches wide by 24 inches long.
