WWII GERMAN K-98 BAYONET W/FROG1944 E.F. HORSTER - SOLINGEN~ MINT ESTATE ITEM ~

Click to see full size image. This WWII German K-98 Bayonet w/Frog was purchased one of my drivers this past week from a WWII Veteran estate. It came in with the other two K-98 bayonets listed in my other sales. The Vet was an mechanised infantry soldier attached to the 6th Armored Division during WWII.

This particular bayonet is near mint overall with 99%+ of the original finish remaining to the blade (see photos). Blade remains unsharpened as issued and has a serial # to one side at the ricasso (see photos). The otherside is marked 44 asw (see photos). 44 is the year of manufacture and asw is the WWII German code abbreviation for the maker E.F. Horster - Solingen. Crossguard, pommel & backstrap have all of the original thin finish remaining (see photos). The pommel top has the appropriate WWII waffen proofs. Dark red Bakelite grips are clean, tight & secured by screws.

Scabbard has no dings or dents and retains most all of it\'s original finish (see photos). Serial #\'s on blade and scabbard match (see photos). Black leather frog is solid/clean overall with NO stitching problems (see photos). It\'s small retaining strap is intact/solid and functional (see photos). Frog has very clean white stitching and is unmarked to the reverse (see photos).

This is a mint late war K-98 bayonet that is footlocker fresh and has never been in a collection. It’s getting harder to find matching numbered bayos and this one is really a beauty. Ideal for the WWII era bayonet collector, re-enactor or to match up with appropriate Rifle.
