The entire IIC-Plus keyboard is missing.The IIC-Plus was the last new Apple II modelintroduced; This was done in person by AppleCEO John Sculley, at the April 1989 annualApple Computer Conference, San Francisco.
Historically, I have owned three Apple IIC-Pluscomputers. The other two were complete; themost recent other one was sold a year ago for$495. plus shipping.
I certify that this IIC-Plus was purchased 20-25years ago; It was NOT taken from the "GarageGiveaway" tables at the annual KansasFest conference.
I describe the Apple IIC-Plus as being the "littlebrother of the IIGS." Many of its special featureswere adapted from the IIgs, which was introducedin 1986, three years prior to the IIC-Plus.
IIC-PLUS SPECIAL FEATURES1. Internal 3.5" floppy drive, on the right side.With daisy-chain connecting cables, this computercan operate two 3.5" drives, combined with two5.25" drives. The external 3.5" drives must be thelow-cost drive withplatinum-gray case, used also bythe Apple IIgs. These external gray 3.5" drivesare cheap and plentiful today.
2. This computer has an automatic 4 MHzACCELERATOR built into the motherboard. Whenplaying games that require only the standard 1 MHzspeed, the accelerator can be turned OFF by clickingthe ESC key at power-up. At Kansasfest 2018, whichI attended in person, about twenty IIC-Plus userscarried their computer to the conference for anevening "soldering workshop," in which the 4 MHzspeed-crystal was removed from the motherboard,and a faster 8 MHz crystal was installed instead.The presenter, from Oklahoma, sold the solderersthe faster-speed crystal and its mount, for justTHREE BUCKS TOTAL! Even faster speeds than 8MHz could be achieved by trying multiple crystalswith faster and faster speeds until a crashhappened. The fastest crystal that never crashedwas then installed into the IIC-PLUS by the user.
3. There is an internal memory-expansion socket onthe frontal right-side of the motherboard. Thissocket can accept a one megabyte memory card,made and sold by Applied Engineering.
4. Keyswitches and keycaps are identical to thoseon the "big brother computer," the IIgs. Althoughthe keyboard is missing, I will include a set of FIVEorange ALPS keyswitches, used on the IIC-Plus,IIgs, and late-version IIC.
5. Long ago, on the forward left side, I installeda green LED lamp, which signals POWER-ON.6. Power supply: The three earlier versions ofApple IIC all had an external heavy "power brick."The IIC-Plus power supply is entirely within thecase. One grounded 3-pin standard power cablewill be supplied with the IIC-Plus.
7. On the left side of the top panel, a VOLUME-CONTROL slider is there; this allows intermediatesound intensities. (The three earlier Apple IICversions lacked volume adjustment.)
8. Rear panel: There are two 8-pin femalemini-din sockets for a serial printer or formodemto be used with the IIC-Plus.
9. The plastic case still has its platinum-graynatural color, and there are no cracks inthe case's plastic. All four rectangular"rubber feet" are still there on thebottom surface.
10. Photocopies of several review articles,which compared the new Apple IIC-Plus tothe three earlier versions of the IIC.
