Up for sale is a rare matching lot of (3) vintage Quantum Bigfoot 5.25" Series Internal IDE Hard Drives. These are the iconic, wide form-factor oversized hard drives famous in mid-to-late 1990s desktop builds.
All three drives are matching 2.5GB capacity variants (Model 2550AT). Finding a matching trio of identical Bigfoot drives from the same production era is incredibly tough, making this an ideal pickup for a collector building a period-correct late-90s machine, setting up a vintage multi-drive storage array, or sourcing hard-to-find spares.
Provenance & Technical Pedigree:
This matching set comes directly out of my father's private estate collection a former MCI Telecommunications Engineer who was active in the industry from the 1980s through 2012. They have been meticulously kept in a clean, smoke-free, climate-controlled tech workshop environment.
Note: One drive features original pencil bench notes from its time in active telecom service ("W-ME" / "Radix" / "Back-up"), adding authentic engineering provenance and character to the unit.
Lot Specifications (All 3 Units):
• Manufacturer: Quantum
• Series: Bigfoot 5.25 Series
• Model: 2550AT (P/N: BF25A011)
• Capacity: 2.5 GB (Per Drive)
• Interface: Legacy IDE / PATA (40-pin)
• Hardware Features: Exposed NEC Japan chip logic arrays are cleanly visible through top casing port windows.
• Cosmetic Condition: Pristine vintage condition. The aluminum housings are remarkably clean and completely free of corrosion.
• Factory Seals: The rectangular mechanical warranty stickers ("REMOVAL OF LABEL VOID WARRANTY") are 100% intact on all drives, proving the top plates have never been taken off and the internal platters have never been exposed to open-air dust.
• Connectors: The rear 40-pin IDE interfaces and power rails are straight, clean, and shiny.
Testing & Operational Status:
• UNTESTED. Because I do not personally possess a legacy PC architecture, an old motherboard, or IDE data cables to interface with these drives safely, I am unable to bench-test them.
