Lot of 6 — Ruckus ZoneFlex R700 Dual-Band 802.11ac 3x3:3 Indoor Access Points — All Factory Reset, Latest Firmware, Tested (APs Only)

Six genuine Ruckus ZoneFlex R700 access points (901-R700-US00). The R700 is a dual-band, dual-concurrent 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5, Wave 1) AP with 3x3:3 radios on both bands and Ruckus BeamFlex+ adaptive antennas. Each unit has two Gigabit Ethernet ports and runs at full capability on plain 802.3af PoE. That makes them a good fit for a homelab, small office, or a Ruckus ZoneDirector network that needs spares.

Condition: used; all six are factory reset to defaults, on the latest firmware, and tested working. They were pulled from a working network, where they ran for years under a Ruckus ZoneDirector on 10.3.1 firmware. All six have since been flashed to the final standalone (Solo) firmware Ruckus released for this model, reset to factory defaults, and checked one by one. Cosmetically they show normal wear from years of ceiling and wall mounting, and one unit (unit 6) was painted white to match a wall. Details are under Condition & Testing.

All six units are ready to set up:

  • Factory reset to defaults. Each is in stand-alone mode with no controller configured and none of the previous network's settings.
  • On the latest firmware: Ruckus ZoneFlex Solo (standalone) 110.0.0.0.675, released June 28, 2018. It's the last firmware Ruckus made for the R700; no newer version exists.
  • Tested working: verified one by one on 2026-09-29. Each reports itself as "Ruckus R700 Multimedia Hotzone Wireless AP."
Important — Read Before Buying
  • Used, with cosmetic wear, and one unit is painted. Unit 6's front cover was painted white to match a wall, with the LED window masked off, so it has a visible off-white rectangle around the LEDs. It tested working like the others. See Condition & Testing and the photos.
  • NOT compatible with Ruckus Unleashed, in any version. If you run Unleashed, these APs will not join it.
  • ZoneDirector: firmware 10.3 and earlier only. Ruckus dropped the R700 at ZoneDirector 10.4, and it is not supported on 10.4 or 10.5. If your ZoneDirector runs 10.4 or later, it cannot manage these APs.
  • SmartZone: depends on your version. The R700 was supported on older SmartZone releases. On later releases it can only be managed in a legacy AP zone, and it is not supported on current SmartZone 7.x. Please check your controller's supported-AP list before buying.
  • End of life. Ruckus ended sale of the R700 in 2018, and there will be no further firmware or support. The standalone firmware on these units (June 2018) is the last one Ruckus released.
  • Set an admin password right away. This firmware does not force a password change at first login. The default login is super / sp-admin (printed on each label), so change it as soon as you set each AP up.
  • APs only. No mounting brackets, power supplies, PoE injectors or original boxes. See "What's NOT Included."
Firmware & Reset State (verified 2026-09-29, each unit)
  • Running Ruckus ZoneFlex Solo (standalone) firmware 110.0.0.0.675, released June 28, 2018. This is the last standalone firmware Ruckus made for the R700. Previously ran ZoneDirector firmware 10.3.1.0.42.
  • Factory reset and verified: each unit is in stand-alone mode, with no controller configured and none of the previous network's settings.
  • Gets its IP address via DHCP. Configure it through the web UI (HTTP/S) or SSH.
  • On first boot each AP broadcasts an open setup network named Configure.Me-XXXXXX, where XXXXXX is the last 6 characters of that unit's MAC address.
  • Each unit identifies itself as "Ruckus R700 Multimedia Hotzone Wireless AP."
Management / Controller Compatibility
  • Standalone: no controller needed. Each AP is configured individually.
  • Ruckus ZoneDirector on firmware 10.3 or earlier. The controller adopts the AP and installs its own matching firmware automatically. These units ran under ZD 10.3.1.0.42.
  • Not ZoneDirector 10.4 / 10.5, and not Unleashed.
  • SmartZone: older releases and legacy AP zones only (see above).
