2) The SFF-8482 is a 29-pin plastic-shell connector, with 15 pins for power and two additional sets (7 pins each) for SAS data signals.
3) The cable is a UL2725 compliant 26AWG SATA cable (PVC sheath).
4) A common application of the SFF-8482 connector is SAS backplanes. Using this cable, internal SAS hard drives can be used as external hard drives.
