Technical Description:
Descriptions from the manufacturer or test pages are generally related to the model series. Each model may be slightly different. Therefore, consider the following helpful information only.
Goodbye is fun
Already in its umpteenth edition, Dell brings Das Studio 15. The base itself remains the same and therefore offers the same advantages of the current dell Studio 1558 chassis. These include, for example, the good workmanship of the device, the extensive interface equipment and the pleasant input devices, which are pleasing even with extensive writing work. We also found the screen of the Studio 1537 an LED display with a 15.4-inch TrueLife panel, i.e. a reflective glare surface.Case
The housing of this test model Dell Studio 1537 corresponds to that of the previous models Dell Studio and successfully has no innovations. The wedge-shaped straight design looks a bit bulky, but boasts solid quality and extensive features. With dimensions of 372 mm (W) x 39 mm (H) x 253 mm (D) and a test weight of 2600 g, it is still in the good range even by current standards. As usual, you can customize your Studio 15 according to your taste and size of your wallet. Dell also offers a variety of colors and designs to upgrade its display lid for an additional charge of 49 or 99 euros. The silver-coloured wrist rest has a fine line and circle structure and loosens up the inner look slightly. When closed, the hinges replace a separate locking mechanism for the screen and base unit as a side task and are also completely sufficient for occasional transport. The battery integrated in the rear area sits firmly, as you are used to from other Dell notebooks. Even with the battery removed, the Studio 1537 is stable, because the feet are located on the left and right rear corners independently of the battery.Features
The sheer mass of different interfaces found in the Dell Studio 15 just makes you happy. Even many much more expensive business notebooks cannot keep up and are easily trumped by the Studio 15. In addition to 2 conventional USB 2.0 ports (one with charging function for MP3 players, mobile phones, etc.), which are suitable for common peripherals such as printers, digital cameras, memory sticks, etc., the test model also has a USB/eSata combination port. This allows you to use both USB devices and eSata peripherals. eSata has the advantage of being able to deliver much higher transfer rates and is therefore ideal for connecting external hard drives. Video enthusiasts will enjoy the existing Firewire interface that many camcorders still have. For various expansions, an ExpressCard/34 slot is then available on the right side and directly below the card reader for fast transfer of smaller amounts of data such as digital photos. For image output, you can have an analog VGA output or even a digital HDMI output. Gigabit LAN, Kensington preparation and 3 audio ports (1 x microphone, 2 x headphones) complete the picture and leave nothing to be desired. At wireless interfaces, it offers Wi-Fi according to the fast N standard and Bluetooth 2.0. The transfer rates of the interfaces are consistently good and usually deliver above average values with 27.4 MB/s (USB), 71.4 MB/s (eSata), 34.3 MB/s (Firewire 400) and 18 MB/s (SD/SDHC).Keyboard & Touchpad
The keyboard makes a slightly louder key noise than usual, but it doesn't seem uncomfortable yet. The good keyboard layout with good high-contrast lettering relegates the original F keys to the FN area and thus allows the special functions to be selected directly. With the Dell Inspiron 11z, for example, this highlighting only extended to the optical range, but did not change the actual occupancy. Otherwise, the stroke, stroke and stability are quite suitable for many writers. The Dell Studio 1537 features a solid multi-finger-capable touchpad with smooth-running touchpad keys and good responsiveness. The gliding properties are good and the sensory surface is delimited by a slight depression towards the palm rest. The multi-touch gestures cover the usual repertoire such as zooming, scrolling, etc., and are easy to hand.
