Bendix Aviation, later renamed Bendix Corporation in 1960, was a manufacturer of aircraft and automotive products. Bendix entered the power transistor business in the 1950s primarily to pursue the automotive radio market where there would emerge large demand for power transistors to replace the less reliable and slow radio tubes used to power car radio speakers.
These transistors are TO-3 germanium power transistors from 1958. They are painted black with information printed on them in orange ink, which includes the Bendix logo of the era, \"U.S.A.,\" The RETMA manufacturers number, \"1012,\" for Bendix Aviation, the RETMA registration number, 2N1031B, and a date code \"852\" (1958, 52nd week). Please examine the photos of the three available units for specific condition. Thay appear to be NOS, unused, although I have no way of knowing for sure; I have not tested them and they are sold only as collectables. They are in nice cosmetic shape with some mostly minor edge wear on the paint on the circumference of the tops of the units.
