[WHY PURCHASE A USED, OUTDATED COMPUTING DEVICE ?]
Why did @pple transition to USB C connectors ?[1] Why did S@msung lock their (USA target audience) bootloaders ?[2] Why does it seem that everyone with a server wants your account on it ?[3] NEWER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER ! Maximize cost-effectivity and choose a pre-owned device. Allow us to be transparent - if your device is not of reasonable quality - we will facilitate a return. However, be intentional, if you change your mind after purchasing a device of reasonable quality, a return should not be honored. Allow the device you see to be the device that you obtain, thus, we need not be a factor in your consideration.
We are in an interesting position technologically. New uses of our computing technology are driving up new subsystem costs, however for the majority of use cases, these new subsystems (DDR5 memory modules, high-end GPUs) provide little benefit, as, for decades our computing systems have had an excess of computing resources (CPU and RAM, primarily). Translation - an older machine will likely suffice for your task at hand - and you know if it will not, the chief potential exception being high-end GPU usage. This older machine is built of the same technology as the newer machine - the semiconductor crystal structure. Yes, crystal - like a rock. High (~70+ dC) temperatures and physical shock encourage failure, while these are generally reliable devices, with the exception of wireless radio units. Typically, ~10+ years enduration for a wireless radio (WiFi) and ~15+ years enduration for computing resources (CPU and RAM). If the integrated radio fails, an adapter is available, and is likely already driven by the Linux kernel.
Software makes use of hardware, and your choice of operating system is important and affects how efficiently said hardware will be utilized. The modern Linux desktop operating system is now competent with Windows, and @pple somehow forgot how to make their devices easy to use. Moving to Linux from Windows a hardware owner will see privacy (which is performance, literally and not figuratively) enhancements, in general. However, be reminded that nothing that touches the internet is indefinitely private. We pre-install Linux Mint on hardware under-priviledged machines. For those capable, as Windows still holds marketshare, we ship the latest Windows version. Let us change this. Install Linux, it is of medium-difficulty to dual-boot an installation alongside Windows. In using Windows we recommend "DoNotSpy11", if you do not see the concept of privacy, we recommend doing such for performance. If a program you rely on does not operate on Linux - you are being extorted, and you have advanced options available to run it on Linux, primarily Wine and via a virtual machine.
[SOME TIPS AND TRICKERY] The Linux, Linux Mint included, community is glad to help and most question are already answered, simple preface your search with "linux mint" and you'll likely find a forum thread addressing your concern Our favorite addon to Linux Mint assists in managing windows, the part of system is called an "Extension", and the particular Extension of context is "gTile", it allows you to place a window in a grid of predefined borders with WIN+G followed by two clicks to set the tiles of the grid the current window shall occupy
[[DETAILS]] [1] We approve of the USB C interconnection, however, the prior was superior [2] This means you do not own the device [3] They do not need it; data is money, honey
