Up for sale is the ultimate, museum-grade archive of Macintosh history: a matched pair of first-generation Outbound Laptop Model 125 systems. Manufactured by Outbound Systems in 1990, these were the premier portable alternatives to Apple’s massive Macintosh Portable, running authentic, physical classic Mac architecture.

This is a completely unmatched collection. Not only is every single original factory accessory accounted for, but this lot features brand-new power supplies and brand-new batteries, eliminating the two biggest failure points of vintage portables.

Systems like this are rarely seen for sale, and a bundle like this will likely never be seen again.

The Systems Included:

• Laptop #1 (Fully Working & Solid-State Upgraded): Powers on immediately and boots flawlessly to the Mac desktop using a modern, pre-installed internal ZuluIDE adapter solution. This eliminates the primary failure point of vintage laptops, offering fast, completely silent, and highly reliable operation. The original internal mechanical hard drive is included loose for historical preservation. The LCD display is clear, readable, and crisp with strong contrast. Casing shows only minor, uniform vintage yellowing with zero structural cracks.

• Laptop #2 (The Project Unit): Powers on and successfully displays the classic "Smiling Mac" icon before hanging. Because it achieves the Smiling Mac, the logic board, power rails, RAM, and the internal Mac ROM chips are fully verified and functional. The boot hang indicates a standard corrupt System file or a dead physical SCSI drive—a straightforward restoration project using classic tools or a modern BlueSCSI emulator. Cosmetic notes: minor yellowing, and the front outer case closure latch/hasp is broken. Display has some type of marking/bleeding as seen in photos.

The "Unobtainium" Accessory Suite:

• 2x BRAND-NEW Power Supplies: Recently manufactured modern replacements that provide stable, safe voltage to the laptops without the risk of 35-year-old capacitor failure.
• 2x BRAND-NEW Battery Packs: Brand-new cells that allow these portable systems to actually run away from the wall outlet—an extreme rarity for the Outbound platform. (1x original vintage battery housing and 1x vintage Radio Shack battery are also included for historical display).
• 2x BRAND-NEW Keyboard and RAM Disk Batteries: Both units have brand new batteries all around, allowing both machines to start up from the keyboard. RAM disk is verified working on the fully working unit.
• 2x Original Branded Carrying Cases: Two original, heavy-duty canvas Outbound transport bags with shoulder straps (completing two distinct, independent portable kits).
• 2x Mac Donor ROMs: Permanently installed inside both motherboards (sourced from donor Mac Plus/SE units per original factory requirements).
• 2x Infrared Detachable Keyboards: Both feature the highly unique, fully intact integrated Isopoint trackbarpointing devices. Both work.
• 2x Ultra-Rare Factory Mice: Authentic, optional Outbound external companion mice that plug directly into the specialized mini-DIN ports on the keyboards. These are almost never seen on the secondary market. Both work.
• 3x External Floppy Drives & Cables: This lot includes THREE (3) original gray-cased external Outbound floppy drives and three (4!) proprietary interface cables (one dedicated drive for each machine plus an incredibly rare standalone spare). As with many floppy drives of this age, have not been able to get these working. Two make loud grinding sounds, the other makes no sound. Have not tried cleaning yet.
• 2x SCSI Hive Adapters: Expansion modules used to link the Outbound to a desktop hard drive or other SCSI device for data transfer. Tested with a BlueSCSI without issue.
• 2x Printed Manual sets: Clean, original copies of the Outbound Laptop System User's Guide containing official schematics, operating instructions, and hardware maintenance guides.

Shipping & Terms:
