Vintage Western Electric / Bell System LC02B Line Circuit Card – January 25, 1979
Original vintage Western Electric / Bell System telecommunications circuit card from the late 1970s.This card is identified directly on the circuit board as:
LC02B LINE CKT SER 0.1
Part / Assembly No.: 840599039
ISSUE 5
Factory date stamp: JAN 25 1979This is a Western Electric LC02B Line Circuit card from vintage Bell System PBX/telephone switching equipment. The card retains its original extraction handle and is heavily populated with original Western Electric components.
Notable components and construction include:
• Multiple white Western Electric ceramic packages marked 601A WE 78 and 163H WE 78
• Gold-colored/plated leads on the Western Electric ceramic packages
• Multiple Western Electric 337A high-voltage modules marked “DANGER HIGH PRESSURE DO NOT OPEN”
• Multiple Western Electric metal-can transformer assemblies
• Four large red Western Electric/Bell System 736-A CAP-PAK capacitor modules
• Numerous vintage resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors and other discrete components
• Original card extraction handle and hardware
• Numerous gold-plated card-edge connector contacts
Vintage Western Electric ceramic components / possible precious-metal construction:
The white Western Electric ceramic packages are particularly interesting examples of late-1970s Bell System component construction. Their gold-colored/plated leads are clearly visible in the photographs.
Based on research into vintage Western Electric/Bell System ceramic components, these white ceramic packages may contain a palladium or palladium-bearing alloy associated with their construction, with gold plating or gold layers used on portions of the package and connections. These components may also contain additional precious-metal-bearing internal construction.
This information is based on research into components of this type and has not been independently confirmed by laboratory analysis or assay of these particular components. Therefore, the presence, composition, purity and quantity of palladium or any other internal precious metal is not guaranteed.Precious-metal content:
The card has clearly visible gold-plated card-edge contacts as well as gold-colored/plated leads on several Western Electric ceramic components. Vintage Western Electric components of this era may also contain precious-metal-bearing internal construction, potentially including gold bonding wire, gold-plated connections and palladium-bearing materials.
No professional assay has been performed on these cards, and no specific quantity, purity or recoverable value of gold, palladium or other precious metals is represented or guaranteed.
Size:
Approximately 11½ inches × 7½ inches, with minor additional projection from the extraction handle.Condition:
These cards are approximately 47 years old and are being sold as vintage used electronic equipment. They have not been electrically tested and are therefore being sold AS-IS / UNTESTED, with no guarantee of functionality.PLEASE NOTE: There is a sticky substance/residue present on some of these cards. I do not know what the substance is or how it got there. I will clean each card as much as reasonably possible before shipment. I have found that the residue does come off with isopropyl alcohol, but some residue may remain. Please keep this in mind when purchasing and review the photographs carefully.Normal age-related cosmetic wear may also be present, including scratches, discoloration, oxidation, dust, markings and other evidence of long-term storage. This listing is for ONE (1) LC02B card. I currently have 13 available. The photographs are representative of these cards. Individual cards may have minor differences in component markings, date codes, cosmetic condition and the amount of residue present.
These would be interesting pieces for a Western Electric or Bell System collector, vintage telephone/PBX enthusiast, telecommunications historian, electronics collector, restoration project, component collector, or precious-metal/electronic scrap collector. Please review all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.Sold as-is and untested due to age.
