Dell PowerEdge 2100/200: Pentium Pro 200 MHz Server with PERC II RAID

A late-'90s Dell PowerEdge tower server built around the Intel Pentium Pro and the 440FX chipset, with PCI and EISA expansion, onboard Adaptec Ultra Wide SCSI, and an AMI MegaRAID (PowerEdge RAID II) controller. The system powers on, completes POST, enters BIOS setup, and boots from floppy. It has some condition issues, all detailed below, including damaged memory sockets and a RAID controller alarm. Testing

• Powers on and completes POST, including the full memory test (512 MB and 256 KB cache SRAM passed)
• RAID controller BIOS loads and initializes during POST
• Enters BIOS setup without issue
• Boots from the 3.5" floppy drive (system screenshots taken from a floppy boot)
• The CD-ROM drive and tape drive are untested
• Onboard video is untested, since the system was tested using the installed PCI video card
• No other testing has been performed

Known Issues (Please Read)

• RAID controller alarm: The system beeps constantly after power-on. I believe this comes from the RAID controller's battery backup module, but I have not confirmed the cause. The original NiMH battery pack is still attached, and at this age it should be inspected and likely replaced or removed.
• Damaged memory sockets: The motherboard originally had four memory sockets. The bottom socket has been torn completely off the board, and the socket above it may be loose. Both were holding memory modules when I received the system, which suggests the damage happened when it was dropped at some point. I moved both modules into the top two sockets, which appear undamaged, and the system detects and passes all 512 MB. I'd treat the second socket from the bottom as unreliable, so the practical limit is two modules. The torn-off socket is zip-tied to the drive cage so it can't rattle loose in shipping.
• Floppy drive pushed in: The floppy drive has been pushed back into the case at some point. These are screwless drive bays that rely on locking drive rails, so this is likely an easy fix, but the drive currently sits recessed from the front bezel.

Cosmetic Condition
Shows its age and life as a working server. Please review all photos. Known issues:

• Dent in the top edge of the side panel near the front corner, with the paint worn through at the dent
• Paint chips and scuffing along the top front edge of the bezel and case
• Yellow tape or sticker residue on the side panel
• Inventory/asset stickers on the side panel and front bezel
• A partially removed "Property of" asset tag on the rear panel
• Dust inside the case, including on the fans and some internal surfaces

I ship on Fridays and Saturdays, with additional drop-offs on Mondays for orders packed in advance. Please allow a few days for handling. This is a large, heavy tower and will be packed accordingly.
