By default there is an IRQ conflict with the audio card. Setting IRQ9 to ISA-only in the BIOS makes the Ensoniq work.
Gateway's software is a pain in the butt and (from what I could work out at least) requires the proprietary remote/keyboard to change inputs. VirtualDub works with it and lets you change between s-video/composite/tuner however. How one uses the video inputs on the front I couldn't tell you. Best lead I found was the registry keys.
To install from the restore discs, boot from the Gateway recovery disc and follow the on-screen instructions. Be sure the HDD is formatted first. A single FAT16 partition will do. Optionally just install Windows 98 normally and copy what you need off the Gateway CD.
