Ruckus ZoneDirector 1200 (ZD1200) Wi-Fi Controller — 13 AP Licences Installed — Factory Reset, Tested, with Original Ruckus Power Adapter

A genuine Ruckus ZoneDirector 1200 wireless LAN controller (part number 901-1205-UN00) with 13 access-point licences installed. The base unit is licensed for 5 APs; this one has been upgraded to manage up to 13 Ruckus APs. Licences are bound to the controller's serial number and stay with it through a factory reset, so the buyer gets all 13.

Condition: used, factory reset, tested working, in very good cosmetic condition. It ran this home's Ruckus Wi-Fi network until September 28, 2026, managing up to 9 APs with no hardware faults. It was then factory reset with the controller's own factory-default command, booted normally to the Setup Wizard, and served its web setup page. Comes with the original Ruckus-supplied 12 V power adapter and AC cord.

Important — Read Before Buying

• No support contract and no firmware entitlement. This unit's Ruckus support entitlement expired in April 2025. Without an active contract the controller refuses firmware upgrades. I tried 10.5.1 and it was declined with "The Support Contract has expired". Plan on running it on 10.3.1. If you already have an active Ruckus contract, this build is on 10.5.1's direct-upgrade list, but I can't promise an upgrade path.
• End of life. Ruckus ended sale of the ZD1200 on August 31, 2022, and end of support is August 31, 2027. No new features are coming.
• NOT for Ruckus Unleashed. ZoneDirector and Unleashed are separate product lines. An AP running Unleashed firmware has to be converted to ZoneDirector firmware before it can join; the ZD then installs its own matching firmware on adoption.
• Check your APs against 10.3.1. Newer models such as the R550, R650 and R850 need ZoneDirector 10.4 or later and won't work with this firmware. The R700 works on 10.3.1 but is dropped in 10.4 and later.
• Browser note. The web interface uses old TLS encryption (RSA key exchange only). Current Chrome and Brave refuse to connect to it directly; Safari worked here. This is a limitation of the firmware, not a fault. The SSH command line works with legacy SSH options.
• No mounting brackets. It sits flat on a desk or shelf on its rubber feet. See "What's NOT Included."

Firmware, Licence & Reset State

• Firmware: 10.3.1.0 build 42 (10.3.1 MR1 Refresh 2).
• AP licences: 13. You can confirm this on the controller's Administer > License page after setup.
• Support entitlement: expired (it last covered March 14 to April 7, 2025).
• Factory reset on September 29, 2026 and confirmed: it boots to the Setup Wizard, which has you create your own admin account.
• Networking at first boot: it gets its address by DHCP. Without DHCP, Ruckus documents a fallback address of 192.168.0.2 and a default login of admin / admin.

Condition & Testing

• Tested working: in daily use managing up to 9 Ruckus APs until September 28, 2026, with no hardware faults. After the factory reset it booted normally and served its Setup Wizard.
• Cosmetic: very good. The front panel, ports and label are clean, and all four rubber feet are present. The top has a few faint marks, visible in photo 04.
