This CFcard can be used as a boot volume in a Compaq Portable depending on what youask for. It comes preinstalled with the Compaq Diagnostics Partition and theOS you select. The 5000 will not have the diagnostic partition as it isnot needed with them.
Please allow additional time for shipping of the Compaq SLT and Compaq Portable III drives. These are manually made to order.
If you need the Diagnostic Disks for the Portable III, SLT or LTE and LTE/286 let us know. We will ship them with the drive. You need 720k or 360k floppies to make the kit if you opt to do so on your own.
Notes:
Armada 4100/4200: will come with a custom HDD bracket. Thus, the higher price for the cards going tothis system.
LTELite: We cannot make CF cards for this system. It is not possible for this system to recognize them. There have been several reports of non functioning hard disk controllers after attempting this. Barring a miracle, no CF to IDE solution will ever exist for this system.
LTE 8086:We cannot make CF cards for this system at this time. It is not possible for this system to recognize them.The BIOS only detects the OEM hard drives. We hope to have a solution to this in 2026.
LTE/286: These kits are available as of April 11 2025. It will come with the custom adapter and a CF card of choice. We don't have replacement IDE cables for this system at this time. These will come with just DOS at this time.You will also need the Compaq Diagnostic Disk (SP0308.exe) to install this drive. You also need a functional floppy drive to use this kit.
Coming in Fall 2026: Compaq LTE/286 HDD Kit 2.0. In addition to what the current adapter comes with, a custom IDE cable, and 3D printed rails.
LTE 386s/20:(Coming in 2026?) We cannot make cards for this system at this time, but we have an LTE 386s/20 to perform testing with. Due to the fragile nature of the HDD ribbon cable on these, no units will be released until a 3D printed case can be produced.
SLT: This kit is available as of January 1st 2025. It will come with a StarTech adapter, the capacity of CF card desired, and the custom HDD power cable. If you already have the OEM HDD power cable, we can ship the extension cable.You will also need the Compaq Diagnostic Disk (SP0308.exe) to install this drive. You also need a functional floppy drive to use this kit.

Compaq Portable III: Kit is available as of October 17th 2025. It'll come with a Startech CF to IDE adapter and a 1 GB card (formatted as TYPE 42 528.MB)You will also need the Compaq Diagnostic Disk (SP0316.exe) to install this drive. You also need a functional 5 1/4 floppy drive to use this kit.May 2026: We obtained a Portable III to test with. More options may come out in the future.
Armada 1100 Series: Please let us know if you have an 1130 upon purchase. These have a different graphics card than the others.
Armada 7300/7400/7700/7800 Series: This is an OEM restore of Windows 95C. It will come like it did from Compaq when new. These are available in 4 & 16 GB varieties.
All systems excluding the SLT/LTE 8086/LTE 286:If you’re not purchasing the CF to IDE adapter, use the V.H2adapter or SYBA dual IDE adapter. Compaqportables will not boot with the V.B1 adapters.
SLT notes (maybe the Portable III) : No other CF to IDE adapters are compatible with these systems. Thus the reason behind using the StarTech adapter. You will also need the SLT Diagnostic Disk to install this drive.
Thisdrive is only compatible with select Compaq Portables (depending on what youask for). The Compaq Diagnostics Partition will not fully load on anyother systems. The 5000 will not have the diagnostic partition. Ifyou don't see what you need, message me and I'll see what I can do.
You'llreceive ONE CF card of your choice. The brand of CF card may vary. I tryto use SanDisk, Transcend, Cisco or Wintec cards, but it all depends on what Ican get a hold of. You'll need to provide the IDE to CF adapter unlessyou purchase the option that includes the CF to IDE adapter. You'll alsoneed the hard drive caddy. Some cards especially the 2/4 GB may be brandnew when I receive them.
Orderprocessing: Orders will generally be processed the next business day, but itcould take up to two business days before an order is shipped. Thisexcludes holidays or any days USPS is closed. I do work a full timeposition in addition to supporting this side business. There is apossibility your order will go out same business day if it received before 7 AMCST. I do ship on Saturdays as well as time permits. Do keep inmind special order/custom units may take upwards of 10 business day to process.
Shipping notes: Orders are either shipped through the postoffice locations in either Shawano, WI or Green Bay, WI locations. I hada customer question this in the past, so I'm including this note.
I absolutely don't like USPS. Can I ship with UPS or FedEx? Yesyou can! Please select this option at checkout if you want UPS. These will almost always be shipped out of Green Bay, WI on thenext business day. I however cannot offer overnight shipping at this time. UPS is only available for the United States.
